So, here we are in the 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness' (Keats: To Autumn), so we thought that we would look at the symbolism of fog, because, well, why not? Cat has tech issues today, so I am in the driver's seat for a minute! Scientifically , mist or fog is formed as water droplets that hang in the air when cold air and warm, moist air meet. It is commonly found in valleys in Autumn and Spring. Mist is thinner than fog, as such it will dissipate quicker. Technically, fog is when you can see less than half a mile (1,000m) ahead and mist is being able to see up to five miles ahead (1km to 8km). There is a lot of symbolism associated with mist or fog. The most obvious connection in today's world is an association with a state of mental confusion. I am sure that most of us have experienced 'brain fog' at some point. It is also Joe's and my anniversary, so we are celebrating in our own way.   Hi Guys, In keeping with our Hallowe'en theme, I thought that I would look at skulls this week. Crystal skulls have been used for millennia by our ancestors. They were used principally to store knowledge. Our ancestors used mainly quartz skulls for this effect. It is believed that many different cultures used them, from Inca to Maya to Atlantis! Nowadays, the skull is used to signify either knowledge gain or ancestor communion, depending on what it is that you intend to use them for. In the centre of a crystal grid, they create a strong focal point. There are many styles of crystal skulls available on the market these days, from the human looking ones pictured above, to dragon skulls and alien skulls. Each has its own purpose and symbolism behind it. Dragon skulls are used to help communicate and work with dragons and their own magicks. I don't own a dragon skull, but it is on my wish list!   Hi Guys, So, I thought that I would take a look at some of the deities associated with this time of the year. Most of the deities are either linked to the afterlife, the underworld or are life/death/life deities. The most well-known for this time of year is probably Hecate, and she will be a post in her own right, as she is very important to the Pagans and the Wiccan community among others.   Hi Guys, So, I thought that I would decorate my house for Hallowe'en this weekend as we have all the kids, then I thought, why DO we decorate? So, out comes to old internet browser, and there are many theories!  Many of the different decorations have a different theory behind them, so here I go with a few: Garlands The use of garlands made from flora found locally originated before records began, and, as such, is considered a Pagan tradition.  It is seen as a way of honouring all that is natural, almost like a harvest festival sort of offering. Hi Guys, Kicking off our Hallowe'en season this year looking at the witches from Macbeth. Macbeth is considered a cursed play, and it is unlucky to say the name, referring instead to The Scottish Play. There is a lot of tragedy in this play, plus, of course, witches! I was going to do this as a Flora Friday post, but it isn't just about plants.
